A PAN (Permanent Account Number) Card is a unique 10-digit alphanumeric identifier issued by the Income Tax Department of India. It is required for various financial transactions, including filing income tax returns, opening a bank account, and conducting high-value transactions. Here’s a list of documents required to apply for a PAN card:

 

1. Proof of Identity (Any one of the following)

  • Aadhaar Card

  • Passport

  • Voter ID card

  • Driving License

  • Ration Card (with photo)

  • Government-issued ID card (with photo)

 

2. Proof of Address (Any one of the following)

  • Aadhaar Card

  • Passport

  • Voter ID card

  • Driving License

  • Utility Bill (electricity, water, or telephone bill) not older than 3 months

  • Bank Account Statement (with the applicant's name and recent transactions)

 

3. Proof of Date of Birth (Any one of the following)

  • Birth Certificate

  • Passport

  • School Leaving Certificate

  • Matriculation Certificate

  • Aadhaar Card (if the date of birth is mentioned)

 

4. Photographs

  • Two recent passport-sized photographs of the applicant, usually with white background.
